Application guide – Rigid sports tape

Before taping

Apply to clean, completely dry and intact skin. If necessary, use a suitable pre-tape or protective underwrap. Apply smoothly without wrinkles and avoid excessive circumferential tension. After application, check comfort, skin colour, temperature and normal movement of fingers or toes when the taped area is near an extremity.

Sport examples

Football: ankle taping and securing shin guards. Handball: wrist or finger support. Contact sports: firm joint strapping when the selected technique requires restricted movement. Always adapt the technique and tension to the person and the purpose.

During and after application

Remove slowly and carefully. Stop use and remove the tape if increasing pain, numbness, tingling, unusual swelling, marked itching, burning or persistent redness occurs. Do not apply over open wounds, infected or strongly irritated skin. Supportive taping does not replace medical assessment when an injury is suspected.
